Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist Spires
The completion of this complex structural project honors the Cathedral Basilica of St. John The Baptist’s historic significance and ensures its preservation for future generations. Replacement of corroded steel, deteriorated masonry, and HVAC systems will help strengthen this iconic house of worship. The installation of cathodic protection will serve as an added layer of protection. All of which was installed over 100’ in the air, over an active house of worship and one of Savannah’s most visited tourist destinations. The spires have served as an enduring landmark in Savannah’s skyline, witnessing over a century of the city’s growth and transformation since their construction in 1896.
