VonTrapp Animal Lodge
The Von Trapp Animal Lodge is a 3,735 SF state of the art animal rehabilitation and veterinary facility located in Savannah, GA. The building was constructed through a negotiated open-book delivery resulting in the building being constructed 3 weeks ahead of schedule and on-budget despite battling through a hurricane and rare Savannah, GA snowstorm during construction.
The building is constructed through a combination of masonry and wood framing. Fiber cement siding was used for exterior trim materials as well as heavy timbers at the entry flanking the mahogany entry door. Inside, the facility includes a complex plumbing and drainage system to serve the boarding area, underwater treadmill, and examination rooms. Durable stained concrete serves as the finished floor and electrically, energy efficient LED lighting was installed.
The civil construction included demolition of a previous foundation, import of new building fill, new utilities, and related paving and landscaping. The permeable and environmentally-friendly gravel pave system was used as part of the paving surface and durable artificial turf was installed in the dog runs.
