The categories that will be competed in at the Statesboro series are as follows:
● Blueprint Reading
● Carpentry
● Electrical
● Heavy Equipment Operation
● Masonry
● Plumbing
● Roofing
● Welding
With over 150 students competing in the Southeast Georgia Skills Challenge, and several hundred additional students observing, this competition is ready to educate and engage many young students that will fill much needed roles in our workforce within the construction trades.
Students also benefit from conversations with construction industry professionals who host interactive activities for students to become more familiar with specific construction trades.
“As a host contractor, our team is thrilled to welcome many local students, teachers, spectators, government officials and more to this amazing event that wouldn’t have been achievable without the support of additional sponsoring industry firms,” West Construction Company President Matt West said. “In addition to providing opportunities for competitors, our goal is to educate students on the numerous career paths that exist within the construction industry.”
